Solar quotation checklist

Compare equipment, warranties, projected production, and exclusions.

Author: SolarGabay EditorialReviewer: Solar Methodology TeamUpdated July 15, 2026

Summary answer

A comparable solar quotation needs complete equipment, installation, warranty, production, financing, permit, and exclusion details. Normalize every quote before comparing total price or payback.

What changes the answer

  • System size alone does not make quotations equivalent.
  • Projected production must use the same weather, shading, loss, and degradation assumptions.
  • Warranty length is less useful without knowing the issuer, coverage, labor terms, and claim process.
  • Financing can hide a large difference between cash price and total amount paid.

Practical checklist

  1. Record panel, inverter, battery, optimizer, mounting, monitoring, and protection details.
  2. Compare annual production, self-consumption, export assumptions, and degradation.
  3. List permits, utility applications, roof work, delivery, taxes, and exclusions.
  4. Calculate cash price, financing cost, expected savings, and downside payback separately.

Evidence and limitations

Use the private quote comparison tool to normalize up to three quotations. Quote details stay outside public URLs and search indexing.

Data should show source type, observation date, scope, confidence, and expiry.
